On Friday, August 26 from 8:30 a.m. to noon San Marcos Rotary will package school supplies for children in seven villages in northern Mexico, and nonprofits in San Marcos, including the Hays County Women’s Shelter and the Youth Services Bureau. The event will be held at First Christian Church, 3105 Ranch Road 12, San Marcos. 8:30 - 10 a.m. Setup of tables and school supplies The club partners with Mision de Candelilla in Fredericksburg, who delivers the school supplies when they visit the villages to provide free medical care. Contact Ben Duncan at ben.duncan@austin.rr.com to volunteer. Cash donations to purchase the school supplies would also be welcome and can be sent to Rotary Club of San Marcos, PO Box 581, San Marcos TX 78667. Rotary in nonpolitical, nonreligious, and nonprofit. If you want a tax-deduction make the check out to the Great San Marcos Rotary Foundation, 1 501(c)3 nonprofit extension of the club. Ben Duncan and Sean Locker are chairing this service project. |

Site to volunteer or donate to this event http://events.riseagainsthunger.org/sanmarcos2022 The Rotary Club of San Marcos Texas USA will sponsor its second Rise Against Hunger event on Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 9-12. We will purchase and package almost 15,000 meal packets for shipment to famine stricken people overseas. Last year the meals went to Burundi, East Africa. Rotary needs more than 150 volunteers and small or large cash donations for this effort. In addition to Rise Against Hunger, San Marcos Rotary this year is raising funds to benefit the Hays Food Bank and San Marcos School Fuel. Donations of food or cash would be much appreciated for these efforts too. So many volunteers helped in 2021 that the food packaging only took a little over an hour. Volunteers can be young and old.
