Peter Baen to Serve as San Marcos Rotary President for 2023-2024
Peter Baen is President-Elect of the Rotary Club of San Marcos, Texas, and becomes President of the club on July 1, 2023, for the 2023-2024 Rotary Year. He has been a Rotarian since 1992 and was honored to become a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow later that same year.
Peter was a member of the Math Department faculty at SWTSU (now Texas State University) before joining the Thermon Company in December of 1976. He was introduced to Rotary through Dick Burdick, founder of Thermon and Past Rotary District Governor.
An active member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), Peter focuses much of his attention on Industry Applications Society (IAS) including serving as Conference Chair for multiple Technical Conferences. Since retiring he has been working as an independent consultant for electrical standards development.
He served the San Marcos Independent School District Board of Trustees for three terms, and remains involved with the Boy Scouts of America, thru which he was awarded the “Silver Beaver” in 2007.
Peter and his wife, Dee Dee, have hosted many Rotary Youth Exchange Students from various countries, and two of their four children were outbound Rotary exchange students.
