Rise Against Hunger Meal Packaging Event

For the 4th year in a row the Rotary Club of San Marcos is sponsoring a Rise Against Hunger meal packaging event. The date is Saturday, October 19.  Set up begins at about 8:30 a.m. and meal packaging at 10 a.m. It takes only two hours if enough volunteers help.  We put together 15,000 food packages, each of which serves six people. So 90,000 meals in all. October 19 is on the weekend of World Food Day when people around the world mobilize to help feed the hungry.

There are three tasks for which you can sign up:  1) set up 2) meal packaging 3) clean up.  Here is the link to the site where you can sign up to volunteer.  The site also accepts voluntary contributions toward the $6,000 cost of this service event.
