ROTARY CLUB OF SAN MARCOS SERVICE PROJECTS in 2022
- Hosted a Celebration of Service on January 14, 2022 to commemorate the Rotary Club’s 100th Anniversary and also the work done by the many nonprofit groups in the San Marcos/Hays County area.
- $5,000 gift to Hays County Food Bank
- $5,000 gift to San Marcos School Fuel
- $1,500 sponsorship of the San Marcos School Fuel Fun Run
- Packed nearly 15,000 meals in partnership with Rise Against Hunger at a cost of $5,700. Each meal serves 6 and are shipped overseas to a famine-stricken country
- $7,500 for the Rotary Foundation Polio Plus program raised with Hair Raisin’ benefit, which was matched with $15,000 by the Gates Foundation
- Packaged school supplies for seven villages in northern Mexico and several nonprofits in San Marcos.
- $35,000 in scholarships awarded to 17 San Marcos area high school graduates
- Stocked two free mini-libraries with books in the Victory Gardens area of San Marcos
- Sponsored a Rotaract Club at Texas State University
- Sponsored an EarlyAct character building program at Travis Elementary
- Sponsored two SMHS juniors to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards experience
- Participated with the Lion’s Club in two events at San Marcos Academy
- Purchased eight shade and ornamental trees for the Victory Gardens Park, also site of one of the Rotary mini libraries
- Purchased banners for the VFW Posts in San Marcos and Kyle
- Purchased snacks and beverages for SMCISD personnel administering STARR tests
- Sponsored table at Wimberley Rotary Club “Dinner in the Dark” benefit for school for the blind in Africa
- Raised more than $2,000 for Rotary Foundation service projects through the sale of Rotary District 5840 raffle tickets
- Sponsored Scramble for Scholarships golf tournament to raise $12,000 for scholarships
- Participated in the Chamber of Commerce Business Expo and routinely attend Chamber functions
