District 5840 Sponsors Rotary Foundation Cruise Raffle

Rotary District 5840 is returning to a cruise raffle fundraiser this year. The prize will be a 7-night Caribbean cruise on the MSC Seascape out of Galveston. Tickets are $10 each, or $100 for a book of 10. All of the proceeds of the raffle will be sent to the Rotary Foundation.

Any tickets bought or sold by a Rotarian will also be credited to their Paul Harris Fellow account.  Tickets will be available in July and the drawing will be on January 31. The Rotarian who sells the winning ticket will receive a prize of $500.  San Marcos Rotary will send all ticket sales directly to the Rotary Foundation with a list of Rotarians who bought/sold tickets and for how much, so you can get credit on your Paul Harris Fellow account for funds you raise. Again, all the proceeds go directly to the Rotary Foundation and not our club or District. The goal is to raise money for the Rotary Foundation.

“The 170,412-ton MSC Seascape is 19 decks high and carries 4,540 passengers at double occupancy. Built in 2022, it's one of four ships in MSC Cruises' Seaside Class. If you're unfamiliar with the European cruise line, that's likely because it previously focused on sailings in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. However, it has rapidly expanded its footprint in North America with sailings departing from cruise hubs in Miami and Port Canaveral, Florida; New York City; Seattle; and Galveston, Texas.

Seascape's demographics seemed to run the gamut — couples, groups of friends and even solo cruisers (although it doesn't offer any cabins for singles). MSC bills the vessel as "family-friendly." While I didn't notice a ton of kids on my mid-October sailing, the ship boasted a slew of options for cruisers with kids (fun water park areas, a robust kids club scene and other family-focused activities). Additionally, the ship had an international vibe, with passengers speaking many different languages. On more than one occasion, I witnessed lively conversations between crew members and passengers in Italian, Spanish and French. Additionally, the captain's announcements were made in English, Italian and Spanish.” https://thepointsguy.com/cruise/reviews/msc-seascape-cruise-ship/
