The San Marcos River Foundation seeks to protect and preserve a clean, flowing, and accessible San Marcos River through water and land conservation, advocacy, and community engagement. SMRF focuses on protecting the flow from aquifer-fed springs, improving the water quality, and preserving the area’s beauty with parks and regular clean-ups.

Virginia Parker will discuss the Foundation’s mission and activities at Rotary on May 28. She served as vice president on the SMRF board
before becoming Executive Director of the non-profit. She holds a degree from Texas A&M in biomedical science and began her environmental career volunteering with Bat Conservation International at Bracken Cave.

Visitors are always welcome at Rotary meetings, which are held at noon at the VFW Hall, 1701 Hunter Rd., San Marcos.
